Exact numbers are not yet known, but the latest reports are very positive for Metroid Dread.
Metroid Dread did very well in the UK last week, the game’s launch. Out of nowhere, this game appeared in the top three best-selling games, and the interesting fact is that it had the best first week in the history of the Metroid series. This honor was previously given to Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, which was released on the Nintendo Wii on October 26, 2007. Sales figures are combined for both retail and digital sales.
The game is off to the best start in the history of the series, but it’s not the best first week for a Switch game this year, but it’s still very neatly in the top 5. Which game was better this year in that first period? Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword, Monster Hunter Rise and New Pokémon Snap.
Metroid Dread is the highly anticipated new series. We had to wait a long time because it was mentioned in the DS era. It wasn’t until this year’s E3 that the game was officially confirmed for release by Nintendo. Our own Dreon wrote a review where he gave Metroid Dread a very decent score.
