London looking for CEO for fintech hub

Attention Fintech experts! The City of London Corporation has launched a CEO search for its new Center for Finance, Innovation and Technology (CFIT). This new center is supposed to provide the UK with the initial capital to grow into a European fintech hub.

The creation of the CFIT was one of the key recommendations of the 2021 Kalifa Review and since then the UK Treasury has allocated £5m to build the centre.

The center’s main goal is to bring together fintech experts to remove barriers to growth in the sector, create and support high-quality and technology-based jobs, help fintech improve and enhance citizens’ access to financial services, and small businesses.

In any case, the new London fintech CEO is expected to have a deep understanding of the UK’s financial innovation ecosystem, including the role of the financial services and technology sector, regulators and government.

The job description also states that the CEO needs to demonstrate clear leadership in executing the strategy he or she develops to direct the work of CFIT. “This means, among other things, he has to attract a team of high-performing executives.”

Finally, the job description emphasizes that long-term financing and sustainability must be the key to CFIT’s success. “This should be the CEO’s priority from the start and he/she must also have experience leading business, finance and investors to ensure that the organization can function effectively from a financing standpoint.”
