Is Zero Harm possible in hospital care? Clínica Imbanaco organizes the healthcare sector in Cali for the most important events of quality and patient safety

Worldwide, 13 out of every 100 patients die from preventable side effects, which is why ZERO HARM will be the central theme of the 13th International Symposium on Quality and Patient Safety, hosted by Imbanaco Clinics. Between March 29 and 31 at the Hotel Intercontinental Cali, key health sector leaders will lead the debate around this transcendental question.

Dr. Astolfo Franco Herrera, national director of Quality and Patient Safety of the Grupo Quirónsalud clinic Colombia, stated that this time “the discussion will revolve around how it is possible to achieve zero harm in treatment, i.e. no adverse events secondary to the treatment or care provided to the patient” .

Regarding the feasibility of bringing adverse events to zero, doctors argue that there are institutions that have fulfilled this goal for a long period of time, therefore the current challenge is “how many days can we go without adverse events, with the idea that time is counted without them occurring” increasing, for it is important to work hard on creating a culture of safety, clarifying the behavior we want to exhibit when we are in front of patients and above all, with important leadership at the service level and an organization that prioritizes safety and provides staff caring for patients with all the necessary resources, supplies and knowledge to be able to behave in a safe manner”.

Experts from countries such as Germany, Brazil, United States, Spain, Honduras, Ireland, Argentina and Colombia will cover topics such as zero hazard, patient safety in outpatient services, effective infection risk assessment, centered care people, and others.

We highlight the presence of speakers such as Peter Lachman, one of the premier quality leaders in healthcare and patient safety in the UK, former president of Isqua, (the entity that regulates the quality of healthcare functions worldwide). , Stephen Muething, patient safety and quality lead at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. We will also be accompanied by Dr. Jafet Arrieta, Harvard professor, instructor at IHI -Institute for Quality Improvement in Health Care- from the United States; We will virtually have Dr. Tejal Gandhi, director of Ganey’s Transformation and Press Security in Boston and Dr. Carla Behr, Experience Manager of the Israelta Albert Einstein Hospital, among other important authorities in this field.

The International Symposium on Quality and Patient Safety is an iconic event, the perfect venue for the exchange of up-to-date knowledge, as demonstrated by Dr. Astolfo Franco Herrera, “Our symposium is an important event that is expected by professionals in the sector, because Apart from knowing patient safety what is happening around the world, it allows us to know, in Colombia, how we are dealing with it. So this is an event which is highly anticipated in our country, especially nurses, first-line doctors and other professionals who are in front of the patient in our institutions, public and private hospitals are trying to do their best to continue to put our country at the top of health care in Latin America.

With this new version of the International Symposium on Quality and Patient Safety, Imbanaco Clinic continues to create space for knowledge exchange aimed at optimizing the process of care, quality and patient safety.
