René van der Meij will replace Chief Technology Officer Gerard Huis at ‘t Veld at SBR Nexus.
Van der Meij is no stranger to SBR Nexus. For example, from Visma Connect, he was responsible for the financing taxonomy for SBR Nexus and was closely involved in various SBR expert groups, including the Data and SBR International expert groups. Until recently, as Tribe leader, he was responsible for the development of the XBRL, human-to-system and Digipoort taxonomies.
SBR Nexus believes that it is not only Van der Meij’s university background in technical management that will serve him well in his new position. His involvement in XBRL Europe as a member of the Executive Committee and as chair of the ESG Working Group as well as his extensive experience in the field of digital business reporting exchange also make Van der Meij an ideal candidate.
Previously focused on SBR on the government side, Van der Meij is now focusing on the role in the financial sector. In the future, the new CTO will focus on expanding existing SBR products.
Leveraging new sectors
“I start this challenging role at SBR Nexus with great enthusiasm,” said Van der Meij of his appointment. “The potential for reliable and high-quality data exchange has been proven. There are many opportunities to expand this with more message flows and innovations in technology. In this way, suppliers, accountants and software suppliers as well as banks can get maximum value from what SBR Nexus has to offer.”
Finally, CEO Jos Jonkers expressed his enthusiasm to welcome Van der Meij to the management team. “With the arrival of René, we can take the taxonomy we manage to a more mature level. This will enable new sectors to become more efficient in the data field based on the SBR standard.”
