The former president of the United States, Donald Trump, criticized his successor, Joe Biden, for not attending the coronation of King Charles III, which was held last Saturday in England.
In an interview with Britain’s GB News, Trump stated that Biden’s age prevented him from physically doing so, calling his absence a rude gesture.
“I don’t think he could physically do it,” Trump, 76, said in an interview with Nigel Farage, the former head of the anti-immigrant UKIP party Europhobia who is now a television presenter. “I think for him it’s hard to do physically,” he said.
Trump, who will challenge Biden for president in 2024, described himself as “appalled” that the current president did not attend the investiture ceremony and described his absence as a “disrespectful” gesture.
Trump said he was going to the coronation
Interviewed on his own golf course in Scotland, Trump assured that, if he were in power, he would be gone.
No US president has ever attended the coronation of a British monarch, according to officials in both countries.
Biden, 80, will be represented at the coronation by his wife Jill.
The White House denies that it was downplayed by Biden
The White House insisted that Biden’s absence, which does not hide his pride in his Irish roots, was “nothing small.” In addition, Biden accepted the king’s invitation to pay a state visit to Great Britain. These may interest you:
