Billy Joel has postponed its last concert in 2022 after signing a viral infection. The show is scheduled for December 19 at Madison Square Garden in New Yorkand all tickets are sold out, as confirmed NME.
In a statement shared on social media on December 18, Joel wrote: “I am disappointed to share that I am under doctor’s orders for vocal rest due to a viral infection., so unfortunately I have to postpone my concert on Monday, December 19th at Madison Square Garden to June. I’m so sorry to tell you so close to the day of the concert, but I hope to make a full recovery now. Unfortunately not yet. I hope to see you in the New Year“. After announcing this news, his fans quickly showed their full support through messages full of love and admiration.
As confirmed on the artist’s website, the concert has been rescheduled for Friday 2 June. This will be Joel’s tenth appearance at Madison Square Garden in 2022 alone, and the 86th of his monthly residency; now it will be the 91st.
A generational rock icon holds the record for performances at the legendary venuewith a total of 131 to date (more than double that of The Grateful Dead, which ranks second with 53). Joel last appeared on November 23, and earlier this month he appeared in Auckland and Melbourne. There will also be more shows on Florida, Ontario, Texas, Tennessee, Philadelphia, Ohio, Missouri and Massachusetts. outside North America, was recently announced as the newest headliner for the 2023 BST Hyde Park event. He will take the stage on Friday July 7th, and it will be their only British appearance of the year.
