Doctors, nurses, dentists and midwives wishing to pursue a career in the UK will be exempted from taking an English language test when applying for a work visa. since earlier this month It would be useful for them to provide a certificate for their knowledge of this language that is recognized by a major professional organization, such as OET (Working English Test).
OET is the Cambridge Boxhill Language Assessment certificate, the result of a collaboration between Cambridge Assessment English, the University of Cambridge’s non-profit foundation, and the Box Hill Institute. The test has been accepted by the UK’s official medical board for two years and is now also recognized by immigration authorities.
By decision of UK Government Headquartersit seeks to “ensure that hospitals and medical offices across the country can have faster access to the personnel they need,” according to a statement from the Ministry.

Now access to work visas and enrollment in the medical community will not only be faster, but will also be done with the assurance that these health professionals have the necessary communication skills to guarantee safe and effective medical care.”
The OET test is growing in popularity among candidates and employers alike, who appreciate the power of healthcare-specific testing as a tool to better prepare healthcare professionals in an English-speaking environment.
What sets OET apart from other English exams is that it is specifically designed for the healthcare sector and therefore uses real situations similar to those faced by healthcare professionals in everyday settings. Oral and written expression tests adapted to the 12 health-related professions evaluated. So, for example, tests for nurses are different from tests proposed to evaluate physiotherapists.
In Spain, the test is available at authorized centers in Madrid, Barcelona, Santiago de Compostela and Granada.
