ING has appointed Görkem Köseoğlu as Chief Technology Officer. Köseoğlu replaces Ron van Kemenade, who moved to Lloyds Bank in April this year.
Köseoğlu is certainly no stranger to the orange chair. He started working at ING Turkey in 2012, where he served as Chief Operations Officer, among others. In 2018, Köseoğlu was then appointed as Chief Analytics Officer at ING Group.
In his current position – which he has held since 2020 – he is Chief Operations Officer of ING Netherlands. In this capacity, he is responsible for, among other things, customer service, fraud collection and management, and KYC services.
The new CTO said he is excited to bring his knowledge of computer science, data and analytics to ING. He said he believes the power of technology lies in how it is used to create exceptional customer experiences.
“Technology, data and AI are shaping our society and influencing the way we live our lives,” Köseoğlu said. “Over the past 20 years, we have seen technology move from the bottom echelons to the boardroom.”
“Today, this is a crucial factor in all of our strategic decisions, as our technology capabilities are the biggest determinant of the customer experience we want to offer now and in the future.”
