Joost Luiten missed out on his first title on the European Tour since 2018 on Sunday. The Dutch golfer lost pole position on the final day of the British Masters.
The 37-year-old Luiten leads after three rounds at The Belfry in Sutton Coldfield along with Italy’s Guido Migliozzi, England’s James Morrison, Oliver Wilson and Andy Sullivan and Denmark’s Niklas Nørgaard.
On the last day Luiten disappointed with a 74 stroke round, 2 over par. He made two bogeys in the first nine holes and was unable to repair the damage later.
Luiten ended with a total score of 283 strokes, 5 under par. With that, Bleiswijker finished in joint eighth place. The title went to New Zealand’s Daniel Hillier, who finished with 278 strokes thanks to a strong finals 66 streak.
This was the second straight week Luiten missed an overall win. The six-time European Tour winner dropped a three stroke advantage in the final round of the BMW International Open in Munich last Sunday. His most recent victory came in 2018, when he won the Oman Open.
Darius van Driel finished in a joint 28th position at the British Masters. The 34-year-old Leidschendammer ended the tournament with a 72-shot lap.
