Florida, USA (Veracruz Vanguard). – Joe Biden, president of the United States, arrived in the state of Florida to survey the damage caused by Hurricane Idalia, a visit that will most likely not be accompanied by the state’s governor, Ron DeSantis.

On the other hand, an Air Force One plane is known to have landed at the regional Gainesville airport, from which Biden and the first lady, Jill Biden, disembarked with a delegation that included Federal Agency for Emergency Management (FEMA) administrator Deanne Criswell.

At the end of the aerial reconnaissance, the president and his entourage will arrive in the city of Live Oak, east of the state capital, Tallahassee, they will be toured and briefed on the rescue and recovery work being undertaken.

Following that, President Joe Biden is expected to make a few words that will reaffirm his commitment to helping affected communities.

The delegation will return to Gainesville airport, from where the presidential couple will fly to Delaware, where they will spend a long weekend in the United States on the occasion of Labor Day, which is celebrated next Monday.

Idalia caused extensive damage after it hit land, leaving hundreds of thousands of homes without power, and roads and wharves flooded by torrential rains, destructive winds and storm surge.
