Five requirements to consider for entry into the United Kingdom – PressPerú

Lima.- Following the announcement of the British Embassy in Lima, which stated that, starting 9 November, Peruvians will no longer need a visa to travel for up to six months to the UK, many citizens have seen this destination as an attractive option for tourism, business, short study, visiting family or friends.

The Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed this announcement and stated that this new stage of migration exchange would strengthen bilateral relations and increase trade and investment between the two countries.

In this context, it is important to know all the additional requirements that Peruvians must meet to enter British territory.

Valid passport. It is mandatory to have a passport with a validity period of six months, especially if you plan to travel to European Union countries (members of the Schengen area).

Flight ticket. It is required to show an air ticket that has a maturity of less than 6 months. This ticket can cover a round trip, or departure from the UK.

Financial ability. It is important to show economic solvency, such as cash, credit card and/or traveler’s checks, original copies of bank statements, among other documents that certify the traveler’s financial capabilities. On the other hand, it must be taken into account that the official currency of the United Kingdom is the pound sterling, which fluctuates between 4.90 soles per change.

travel assistance. In case of medical emergency, tourists will be able to receive first aid, but The UK’s National Health Service (NHS) does not cover treatment for other treatments, so it is advisable to have insurance or travel assistance to protect against any kind of unforeseen medical or non-medical occurrence, such as lost baggage, flight delays or others.

Stay. Travelers must show the hotel reservation or data of a family member where they will be staying, to verify that the trip will be less than 6 months old.

“This new announcement is very positive for Peruvians wishing to visit the UK. But regardless of the length of the stay, it is recommended that travelers have medical assistance, to ensure peace of mind from boarding to returning to their home country”, he claims Agustín Aveiro, Country Manager Assist Card Peru.

It should be noted that The UK is not the only country that allows Peruvians to enter without a visa, as are 96 other countries. 74 of them can only be entered with a passport, while the other 22 carry a DNI. Among them are the countries of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN), the European Union, South Korea, Thailand, Costa Rica, Panama, among others.
