Ed Sheeran is again the most streamed artist in the UK

Ed Sheeran has become the UK’s most streamed artist for the seventh time. British music licensing company PPL reported this on Monday. He left singers Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa on the list.

Sheeran’s music was the most played on UK radio, television and public spaces for the third time in a row last year. This is also the second time he has been number 1 for three consecutive years. Sheeran said he was grateful for the recognition. “Thank you also to my team, not only on my own behalf, but also on behalf of all the other artists you work with. I am delighted that you received this recognition.”

The majority of the UK’s 10 most streamed artists (seven) are British. Apart from Sheeran and Dua Lipa, the music of Calvin Harris, Elton John, Coldplay, Tom Grennan and Harry Styles is also often heard. David Guetta (France), Madonna and Taylor Swift (both United States) complete the list.

Although Sheeran is the most streamed artist overall, he is not number one on the most streamed list. That honor went to fellow American Miley Cyrus and her hit song Flowers. Eyes Closed by Sheeran is at number 2, followed by Forget Me by Lewis Capaldi at number 3.
