Dartmaker Target has partnered with UK youth academies

Target Darts has announced a partnership with the Sudbury Youth Academy to further strengthen its Elite 1 Academy, which includes the UK.

Target aims to give new players the tools and platform they need to get ahead in the sport by partnering with the best youth academies across the country. Additional academies have pledged to join the program and these will be announced in the coming weeks. One of the main goals of the Elite 1 program is to find future world champions and provide them with the guidance and support they need to develop their careers.

The Elite 1 program has been a success with the current model, players such as Keane Barry, Jarred Cole and Bradley Brooks regularly participating in Pro Tour events after joining the program in previous years. And then there are young talents like Luke Littler, Katie Sheldon and Eleanor Cairns who are currently in Elite 1 and have achieved some great results.

Lorraine Winstanley, head of Target’s youth department, was excited. “I can’t wait to see how this all goes forward, it’s an exciting time to be a darts player. Player development has always been the focus of this sport and now Target has taken the initiative by investing in the future. Giving young players a place like a great academy is great.” this can only be a good thing, somewhere safe and where there is a communal atmosphere.”

“Women and young girls can play in this academy without worry, it’s something that might be overlooked, but won’t go unnoticed. I hope something like this will be there when I grow up and start playing darts,” concluded Winstanley. .
