Cleveland Clinic has launched a strong collaborative support program for hospitals and healthcare organizations around the world to connect with clinical and operational experts from the global healthcare system to improve patient care and differentiate themselves in their marketplace.
The goal of the Cleveland Clinic Connected program is to create a global network of independent, like-minded, quality-focused organizations that positively impact patient care. Experts from will work with hospitals and healthcare systems to ensure the highest standard of patient care, improve operational efficiency and support the professional development and education of clinical and non-clinical staff.
“This program will allow us to share our expertise in quality, safety, and patient experience to reach more people around the world,” said Tom Mihaljevic, MD, CEO and President of Cleveland Clinic. “We have a responsibility to offer the best care to patients, wherever they live, because everyone deserves high quality health care. By working with hospitals and healthcare systems aligned with our mission, we can take steps to honor that commitment.”
Physicians from member institutions will be able to request a secondary evaluation of complex cases through a doctor-to-doctor consultation with one of the institution’s 6,000 experts. In addition, member institutions will be able to access the Cleveland Clinic’s continuing consulting and quality improvement services, as well as education and training, including a clinical observation program. Transfer of knowledge will be tailored to the priorities and needs of member institutions with non-clinical training opportunities available for administrative and operational staff.
James Merlino, MD, Director of Clinical Transformation at Cleveland Clinic, said, “Cleveland Clinic Connected is designed to improve healthcare worldwide by sharing best practices and proven insights, particularly around quality, safety and patient experience. Through this program, local and international hospitals will have access to our expertise, including clinical support for complex patient care and advice on operational aspects such as supply chain, IT and finance.”
Leslie Jurecko, MD, Head of Safety, Quality, and Patient Experience at Cleveland Clinic, says, “We will partner with hospitals that are aligned with our core values. The hospital may be small, it may be rural, or a larger healthcare system, but ultimately a necessary element is that they have a culture that supports improvement.” The main criterion for membership is that the organization is aligned with our mission to improve safety, quality, and patient experience, and that they see an opportunity for that relationship to increase reliability in healthcare.”
Internationally, the Cleveland Clinic is uniquely positioned to provide its clinical and operational advisory services. In doing so, you will leverage your decades of experience operating on the ground in international markets and apply that organizational knowledge to collaborate with diverse healthcare systems around the world. This experience and insight allows them to understand the practice and care priorities of international partners and identify shared best practices to support patient care locally.
The not-for-profit health care system currently has 22 hospitals and more than 220 outpatient centers in the United States, Canada, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.
