There is huge concern over Emiliano Sala in England and France. The 28-year-old striker, who transferred from Nantes FC to Cardiff City last week for 17 million euros, was on board a private plane that disappeared from radar near the French coast on Monday evening at around 20.30 local time.
The plane was en route from Nantes to Cardiff and French police confirmed Sala was one of two people on board. The other is the pilot.
Rescue boats and helicopters are searching for the plane in the area around the British Channel island of Alderney, but so far nothing has been found.
Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman said he was “very concerned”. “But we are waiting for confirmation before discussing this further,” said Dalman Wales Online.
Nantes has not yet commented. However, the French Football Association has now decided to postpone the club’s cup match against Entente Sannois Saint-Gratien scheduled for Wednesday to Sunday.

Sala has scored twelve goals for Nantes this season
Sala was still in Nantes on Monday afternoon to say goodbye to his teammates. The Argentinian player shared his farewell photo on Twitter and Instagram and that was also his last message. A Nantes player dropped him off at the airport.
On Saturday, Sala, who apart from being an Argentine citizen also has an Italian passport, signed a contract with Cardiff City until mid-2022. He flew back to Nantes specifically for the farewell. He is the most expensive signing ever from Cardiff City, who are eighteenth in the Premier League.
In French Ligue 1, Sala has scored twelve goals this season for Nantes, where he has played since 2015. He previously played for Girondins de Bordeaux and Caen.
