Business Insider launches Dutch edition

A typical article on Business Insider? It’s about tough entrepreneurs (‘Suit Supply: how a start-up from Amsterdam turned the world of suits upside down and took over America‘), helps readers move forward on their career path (‘29 things you should never say to your boss‘) and have high you-can-do content (‘16 signs you’re smart – even though it might not feel like it‘). And yes: at Business Insider they love lists and headlines.

The American news site Business Insider (turnover 38.5 million euros in 2015) presents business news in a light tone and wants to conquer the world with it. The company launched this on Tuesday Dutch edition. To this end, they have established a partnership with Dutch business site Z24, which is fully integrated into businessinsider.nl. The Netherlands is the eleventh country where this group is active.

Business news, not as a burden

“We write stories that improve your business and your personal life,” says editor-in-chief Arend van den Berg. “And we always try to present it in a sharp and surprising way. For example, a story can also consist of one graphic.Business news, not as a burden, but as a pleasurewe already said it at Z24. Therefore, you will be reading less about the obligatory story about steel giant Corus and more about an interesting start-up.”

Van den Berg estimates it will reach one million unique visitors per month this year. The site offers Dutch articles, translated articles and international news streams from Business Insider in English.

The Business Insider formula led to huge success in the US and UK. There, the site reaches more readers than the leading business newspapers Wall Street Journal and it Financial Times. German publisher Axel Springer bought Business Insider in September last year for 306 million euros, the news site’s biggest acquisition ever.
