Newsgreat Britain
The new British Prime Minister, Liz Truss, briefly outlined her government’s priorities in London. Economic reforms, measures to combat the energy crisis and health service reforms must make Britain ‘modern and brilliant’, Truss said in her first speech outside her official residence at ’10 Downing Street’.
Without going into detail, Truss said she had a “bold plan” to improve the UK economy through tax cuts and reform. In addition, the new prime minister wants to invest in roads, housing, schools and hospitals. This week, Truss said her party would also “take action” to resolve the energy crisis caused by Russian President Vladimir Putin, he said.
Truss also spoke about her predecessor Boris Johnson, who offered his resignation to Queen Elizabeth this morning. According to Truss, Johnson will go down in history as a “very significant” prime minister.
The Prime Minister must now assemble his team of ministers as quickly as possible, as the first parliamentary session is scheduled for Wednesday. The opposition wants to know from Truss how she will tackle rising energy costs and livelihoods.
According to the Bloomberg news agency, the politician plans to allocate 130 billion pounds (about 151 billion euros) to save British households from high energy bills. In addition, a package of 40 billion pounds (more than 46 billion euros) will be ready to support the company.
