Britain detects bird flu in two new workers exposed to poultry

The UK government has communicated that the two workers csuffer from disease through contact with infected birds on two farms in England. The new positive adds to the two cases detected in May. Just days after May’s detection, the workers tested negative. There is no connection between the two cases.

Their testing program includes: farm staff, staff involved in slaughter operations, veterinarians and other health and safety personnel.

“The first new detection is difficult to interpret due to lack of information about timing of sampling and may be consistent with respiratory tract infection or contamination,” they explained. “The second new detection likely represents contamination. Preventive contact tracing is carried out ”, they added.

Diagnostic tests have been performed on other people 50 people working on the farm, all tested negative.

The authorities caution that no evidence of person-to-person transmission has been detected, and the risk to human health remains unchanged, and the danger remains very low for the general public.
