Bernard Krone, owner of the Krone Group, has died after a short illness. The engine manufacturer announced this in a press release.
Over a hundred years ago, in 1906, the couple Bernhard and Anna Krone started a blacksmith shop under the name Krone. In 1930 the first steps were taken in the production of agricultural implements. Already at the age of six, Bernard Krone told his teacher that he could learn much more in the smithy than at school. Not that he stopped. In 1959 he started studying mechanical engineering, three years later he started working at his parent company. When Krone senior died in 1970, his son Bernard took over.
Bernard Krone demonstrated both vision and decisiveness: a quarter century later, the machine builders decided to focus entirely on the production of forage harvesters and removed tillage machinery from the program. This resulted in, among other things, the introduction of the Big M mower in 1996 and the Big X forage harvester in 2000. Additionally, Krone chose to start a second branch of the family business by manufacturing trailers and spreading the risk. . Director Krone is highly recognized for his friendliness and personal contact with customers.
In 2010, Krone passed the baton to his son Bernard, who took over the day-to-day management of the company. The senior krone advised his son to ‘always be the blacksmith of Emsland. Just like your great-grandfather, your grandfather, and your father.”
Bernard Krone is 82 years old.
