Australian bus company Kinetic, along with a number of other investors, acquired Go-Ahead Group. They calculated 648 million pounds (754 million euros) for the biggest operator of London’s iconic red double-decker bus, according to a report from Kinetic on Tuesday. Bloomberg about messages.
Go-Ahead operates nearly a quarter of London’s buses, including part of the city’s zero-emissions fleet. The company also owns Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR), the UK’s largest rail operator. GTR is responsible for commuter trains to London and Express lines to Gatwick Airport.
Kinetic is the largest bus company in Australia and New Zealand and joined for an acquisition with Globalvia, which operates metro lines in four cities in Spain and operates a number of highways. The companies are backed by the Canadian pension fund OPTrust.
Interest in takeovers of British transport companies has increased recently. Investors are expecting an increase in passenger traffic after the coronavirus pandemic and are attracted by the steady returns the sector offers due to government contracts being dominated by multiple years.
