The Board of Directors of Access Bank Botswana Limited has announced the appointment of Ms. Musonda Chishimba Musakanya as Acting Managing Director effective March 18, 2023. Musonda is a seasoned professional with 22 years of experience as a banker in various markets in Africa. Of this period, 8 years were earned in Botswana and Zambia and 14 years at Citibank in Zambia, South Africa and Kenya.

Of this total, he spent 15 years in senior management roles, developing hands-on knowledge and expertise in customer relations, technology, risk management and general banking. In the period 2009-2011, Musonda played a key role in the strategic direction of the banking sector in Zambia, when he chaired the Technical Committee of the Bankers Association of Zambia (which included him as the only non-CEO Steering Committee member of the Zambia Bankers Association). National). His strengths also come from practical experience in implementing innovative financial products, corporate governance, managing corporate and retail operations, executing strategy and ensuring a zero audit failure environment (risk management).

Musonda joined Access Bank Botswana on 17 August 2022 in the role of Managing Director. Previously, he was part of the executive team of Access Bank PLC, where he served as Executive Director – Africa Subsidiary. He holds an MBA specializing in finance from Herriot Watt Business School in England.

He also holds a BSC Honors in Computing & Diploma in Industrial Studies from Loughborough University, UK.
