For the second year in a row, Kate Middleton and it Prince Guillermo They appeared on BBC Radio 1 on the occasion of World Mental Health Day, this time showing their most personal side. In an interview broadcast on the afternoon program Home with Vick and Jordan on Radio 1, The prince spoke about his low tolerance for spices during a conversation about his dinner plans. After deciding on a curry, hosts Vick Hope and Jordan North asked him if he liked his curry spicy or mild.
“I shouldn’t eat too much spicy food, I start to sweat,” Guillermo said. “That’s not interesting”. Kate, on the other hand, doesn’t have the same problem: “On the contrary, I like it spicy, so I have to cook the curry and add a little extra spice at the end,” she says. “He had to put a little in because otherwise I would start sweating too much,” added Prince William. “This is not a pretty sight to see!”
During the interview, the Prince of Wales also hinted at his tendency to use the eggplant emoji, when the presenter asked him about his most frequently used symbol. “They told me not to say eggplant, so I had to choose something else. It was supposed to be eggplant, but now I say – because I have to be an adult – the one with the eyes going up and down and the tongue sticking out.” “Which one is it? That seems a little crazy.”
The interview was recorded during an early morning visit to Birmingham, where the Prince and Princess of Wales were traveling to attend a series of workshops on mental health organized by The Mix, an organization that supports the under-25 age group. They also took part in a mental health forum moderated by Nadia Jae from Radio 1 , alongside British doctor and mental health ambassador Alex George, Radio 1 presenter Katie Thistleton and psychologist Marc Brackett, founding director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence.
Kate also gave a speech in which she explains some of the reasons why she and her husband are so keen to talk enthusiastically and openly about mental health: “It doesn’t have to have a lot of negative connotations,” says the princess, “we can choose to see our emotional world and mental well-being from a different perspective. “We can normalize it and recognize it as something we all have and need as humans.”
