Norwich City, currently competing in the second division of English football, has launched a heartwarming campaign on the occasion of World Mental Health Day. This video, which went viral in the UK, discusses prejudice around mental illness, especially depression. This Norwich City initiative is being carried out in collaboration with Samaritans, a non-profit organization working to promote mental health in the UK and Ireland.
The campaign video features two men, one of whom has an introverted and sad attitude, while the other appears more cheerful. Amazed, It was the seemingly happy man who decided to end his life. Campaign objectives challenging stereotypes around mental health, especially the erroneous assumption that people with depression always show signs of suffering. In fact, the symptoms may not be visible to others and this is the problem that must be eradicated as soon as possible. The main message of this video is that even if someone “seems fine,” there’s no harm in asking how they’re feeling, because no one really knows what another person is going through.
So far, this moving content has reached more than five million people, generating significant awareness about mental health in British society, which has widely “lauded” the “yellow” club initiative.
