Cobalt Iron, a US provider of data security Saas tools, received a European patent for its technology for dynamically monitoring data. This technique makes it possible to automatically enhance data collection and analysis in the event of, for example, a hardware failure or a ransomware attack. Cobalt integrates a new trick into its Compass backup service.
In the event of a warning, malfunction, or other unfortunate circumstance, patented technology automatically begins with deeper and more frequent data collection on all infrastructure components. According to the company, ICT administrators quickly gain insight into emerging issues, minimize ICT risks, and simplify problem solving. It will also increase the chances of capturing important event details that would otherwise be lost.

The patent covers hardware recognition and activity related to unplanned events, continuous analysis of hardware components, dynamic data collection based on specific events, and a return to regular data collection after an incident has ended.
