London rejects plans by the British Government to accommodate illegal immigrants on boats on the River Thames

Mayor of LondonHe Sadiq Khan Laborwas announced this Thursday “the strongest opposition” on an assumption The conservative government’s plan to accommodate immigrants who arrive irregularly on boats that dock on the River Thames to England.

Khan said the City Council was aware of the Executive’s intention to moor the large ship at Royal Pier, which is located near Kota airport, to the east of the city.

“I am proud of London’s history of welcoming those seeking refuge, and I am concerned that vulnerable people fleeing dire circumstances do not have access to the support they need and are putting their safety, health and well-being at risk.”, said the politician in a statement sent to EFE.

“The government’s strategy towards asylum seekers is cruel and impossibleand will be exacerbated by the Illegal Migration Bill” which is currently being processed by the DPR, he said.

Khan proposed that, instead of putting them on a boat while their fate was being decided, councils and local authorities should retain the “legal and financial power” to support these immigrants. “with humanity and dignity”.

british Prime Minister, Sunak Receiptit announced this week that more ships would be readied to accommodate people arriving in Britain from France in small boats through the English Channel, as part of a plan to prevent what it sees as illegal immigration.

The draft law currently being analyzed by the DPR, among others, discusses deportation of these immigrants to a third country, such as Rwandawith whom the Executive has a contract, so that their asylum application can be processed there.

A Home Office spokesperson said today that “increasing pressure on the asylum system requires consideration of cheaper accommodation options for taxpayers than hotels.”

The Labor Opposition criticized the lack of facilities and personnel to manage those seeking asylum and called on the Government to provide more ways for them to enter the country legally.
