This Saturday, May 20, Princess Leonor (17 years) is living one of the moments she has been most looking forward to: her graduation at UWC Atlantic College. The heir to the throne has completed his studies in the second year of the Baccalaureate at a boarding school where other European ‘aristocrats’ have also trained. It is already possible to know the guests who will protect the young woman at the end of this stage away from the Palace: Doña Letizia (50 years) and Felipe VI (55 years), her sister Infanta Sofía (16 years old) and her maternal grandmother, Dove Rocasolano (71 years). Queen Sofía (84 years), for her part, will not be able to protect her granddaughter as she is in Texas (Houston) facing her responsibilities and there is no way she can fly to Wales in time.
Now, like every Friday, from Casa Real they have announced the official agenda of the Kings for the next week and we can observe it Queen Letizia has taken a well-deserved vacation.
Letizia’s week off after Leonor’s graduation
Queen Letizia has been cleaning up this week and will not fulfill official commitments unlike Felipe VI who has two events already scheduled. On Tuesday, May 23, he will go to the Royal Palace of El Pardo to preside over a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Foro de Marcar Renombradas Españolas Foundation. The next day, he will travel to Aranjuez to lead the extraordinary action of the Royal and Military Order of San Fernandez.
The former journalist, for his part, will be able to enjoy a week off where he can engage in all kinds of activities, such as reading and even enjoying an afternoon at the movies.
Queen Letizia’s applauding speech on mental health
A few days ago, Letizia inaugurated the 22nd Mental Health Congress, a goal to which she is 100% dedicated, highlighting, among many other things, the shortage of professionals in Spain in this field. Princess Leonor’s mother delivered a momentous and emotional speech which has gone viral and she intends to awaken conscience.
“We all need to stop at some point, acknowledge, recognize our vulnerabilities, our weaknesses, be able to say ‘I can’t’, ‘I don’t know’, ‘I don’t feel’, ‘I need time’, ‘I need to stop’. Early health education, prevention, will give us the tools to be able to manage our emotions, to be able to deal with the difficulties and traumatic situations that we all have in life,” said Queen Letizia’s son-in-law.
The future of Leonor and Sofía
As a candidate for head of state, Princess Leonor will initiate it Army, Navy and Air Force training on August 17 before 10:00, according to Ministry of Defense regulations. It will start in Zaragoza just as her sister, Infanta Sofía, goes to Wales to study at the same boarding school as her.
The little girl from the Royal House will be studying for her Baccalaureate at UWC Atlantic College and this was announced by the Palace in a statement: “Their Royal Highnesses The King and Queen announce that Their Royal Highnesses Infanta Sofía, as well as the Princess of Asturias, will study the International Baccalaureate course from the educational institution United World Colleges at UWC Atlantic College in Wales, United Kingdom Infanta Sofía has also attended satisfactorily during the selection process required by the Spanish Committee of the United World Colleges Foundation (UWC Spain)”, read the letter confirming that Sofía, like Leonor, must undergo several tests to enter the prestigious center.
