A 27 year old man from Romania was arrested for people smuggling during an inspection by the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee in Hoek van Holland. The man had hidden three Iraqi women in his van. They lay under a pile of blankets.
The man wanted to cross into England last Friday, but was stopped before he could get into the boat. The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee reported this on Monday.
When checking, it turned out that the back door of the van could not be opened and the side door was only partially open. The Marechaussees then saw a pile of blankets in the back of the bus. Inside were three women. The driver has been arrested for human smuggling, the woman has been taken care of and will go through the immigration process.
Hanging under the truck
That same night, Marechaussee arrested two underage Moroccan boys who were hanged under a truck. In this way they try to enter the ferry illegally. Later, a third Moroccan man was found walking across the ferry service location, looking for a way to board the ferry. He stood out because he wasn’t wearing a safety vest. When approached, he indicated he wanted to go to England because his family was there.
