4 hospitals of the Ministry of Health are recognized as the best in the world

Newsweek magazine and global data firm Statista recognized the “Dr. Manuel Gea González”, Mexican General Hospital (HGM) “Dr. Eduardo Liceaga”, Children’s Hospital of Mexico “Dr. Federico Gómez” (HIMGF) and National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition “Salvador Zubirán (INCMNSZ), all from Health Secretarylike between best internationally.

The Ministry of Health (SSa) reports that through the publication: “The best hospital in the world 2023”, Newsweek and Statista indicate that the Gea González and HGM hospitals are located in eighth and 11th place, respectively, out of a total of 58 selected in Mexico; while HIMFG and INCMNSZ are classified as special units.

They detail that this year they voted 250 of the best hospitals in the worldof 2,300, evaluated in Germany, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Belgium, Canada, Colombia, South Korea, Denmark, Spain, Finland, France, Netherlands, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Norway , England, Singapore, Switzerland, Sweden, Taiwan, and Thailand.

They explained that countries were selected based on comparative factors such as standard of living and life expectancy, population size, number of hospitals, and data availability.

“This information was obtained through an online survey of 80,000 medical experts, who recommended hospitals in their countries, and could not take into account where they worked,” he explained.

They also report that data from survey publicly available experience tests performed by insurance companies on patients after a period of hospitalization.

Finally, they explained that Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) evaluation indices were implemented for the first time, which consisted of applying questionnaires to patients to measure their perceptions of functional well-being and quality of life.

“Each hospital obtains a score comparable only to its counterparts in the same country. The highest ranking in the world is determined by the number of international recommendations received in the survey and its national ranking,” they concluded.
