Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, like the rest of the Mercedes F1 team, was unhappy with the W14’s performance. Mercedes’ new F1 car isn’t competitive enough and, according to Hamilton, that’s because Mercedes isn’t listening to him.
“I told them about last year’s car problems,” Hamilton told BBC Sport. “I’ve driven so many cars in my life, so I know what a car needs, I know what a car doesn’t need.”
“I think it’s really about accountability, about acknowledgment and saying ‘Yeah, you know, we didn’t listen to you, the car isn’t where it should be and we have a job to do’.”
“We have to look at the balance through the corners, we have to look at the weaknesses and as a team fix them, that’s what we have to do.”
“We are still double world champions, it’s not right at the moment. They didn’t get it right last year but that doesn’t mean we can’t get it right as we make progress.”
