Julie Needham, Luke’s mother, said that they went to the hospital on Jan. 22 and they just checked him and sent him home. But at 1am they called him, telling him it was a serious case and he had a 50% chance of living.

“The doctors said that he was very bad, he had a bacterial infection and his life was in danger (…). They said it was a risky operation and they might have to amputate the leg,” Needham said.

Despite amputating his leg, his case is very serious. Luke knew that and that’s why he said: “Dad, I’ll be fine, you take care of Jake and mom.”
