F1 drivers Vettel and Schumacher in action together during the Race of Champions

Sebastián Vettel and Michael Schumacher will be racing for Team Germany in the Race of Champions which will take place in January. The two riders will team up for the third year in a row to take their countries back to the top of the standings for the first time since 2018.

The German team is the most successful nation in the ROC Nations Cup with eight wins. Six of these eight wins came to Vettel and seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher between 2007 and 2012. For the second year in a row, the event will be held on snow and ice at Pite Havsbad in Sweden.

Schumacher

“It’s great to be back in the Race Of Champions and to see all the riders again,” said Schumacher. “Even better, Sebastian is also on board, so we hope Team Germany can live up to the tradition of fighting for titles in the ROC Nations Cup. I’m really looking forward to getting back on the ice and spending some time and fighting with this impressive roster of riders.” The German duo will be joined by two-time F1 champion Mika Hakkinen. Alfa Romeodriver Valttery Botta and Aston Martin reserve driver Felipe Drugovich. Ex mclarenracer David Coulthard and three-time W Series champion Jamie Chadwick will represent Great Britain.

Vettel

“I am delighted that Mick will be joining me again in the Race Of Champions – for my first race since I retired from Formula 1,” said Vettel. “Neither of us had much experience on snow and ice so it was a steep learning curve in Sweden earlier this year. In the end I surprised myself all the way to the individual final against Sébastien Loeb [vorig jaar] and now I can’t wait to get back and work with Mick to see if we can lead Team Germany to the ROC Nations Cup title.”
