Even though England were chasing a doubler, Austria had the chance to draw 1-1 just before the break. However, the good ball to score did not reach Nicole Billa. After that, Lauren Hemp failed to bring England to a safe place by shooting the ball high over the goal right in front of the goal.

Despite Austria’s small chance 10 minutes from the end, the 2nd half came to nothing. England consolidated and not sharp in attacking play, after that the 2nd goal was not scored. Therefore, national coach Sarina Wiegman started with a win at the European Championships, but knows that there is still a lot of work to be done.
