New episodes of Crown it does not contain the disclaimer that the series is a dramatized story about the British royal family. Season five of the hit series hit Netflix early Wednesday morning.
The streaming service was added in mid-October disclaimer to the trailer of the popular series. Inspired by true events, this fictional drama tells the story of Queen Elizabeth II and the political and personal events that shaped her reign. Similar text is now only in the Netflix menu.
The streaming service was tacked on after a flood of criticism from recent episodes. Netflix has said that several times Crown is a dramatized story and wants no disclaimer for a long time.
Criticism of actress Judi Dench, among other things, led to an extra warning. Dench called the storylines in the new season “totally wrong” and wanted the streaming service to point out the series was fictional “in honor” of the recently deceased Queen Elizabeth.
Despite the hype, there’s no disclaimer for the new episodes
In the Netherlands, no disclaimers were displayed for Wednesday morning’s episode. Nor is there a disclaimer in the UK, he notes Independent. Netflix has yet to respond to the lack of warning about the veracity of the series.
Previously, former Prime Minister John Major also criticized the program. He calls the new season Crown “a bunch of crap”. The former head of government criticized, among other things, the scene in which the then-Prince Charles talks to the Major about the Queen’s abdication.
