Diagnosis

“As soon as she got her diagnosis, Kirsty looked at me and started crying because she realized she wasn’t going to see Thomas grow up,” she added. “I knew it must be positive for him and I told him we can fight together”.
The man recalls that, in his final moments, his wife would not stop asking for hugs and that he was releasing her oxygen in her own way, ensuring that he was ready “to go”.
“The worst part was walking out of the room with Thomas, he kept saying, ‘Bye mom, see you soon!’ and it absolutely breaks my heart,” Alex said. “We both miss him so much”.
After what happened, the man joined a non-profit organization St Christopher’s Hospital and holds positions at the Royal Marsden Hospital, where he works to raise awareness about cancer.
“I want to raise awareness, because there will be more young families like ours, without treatment,” he added. “There will be other families going through this, and I don’t want to wish this pain on anyone.”
