‘This can’t go on much longer’
The words become supported by actress Judi Dench, a close friend of Empress Camilla.
“The more the series moves toward today, the more blurred the line between historical accuracy and brutal thrills becomes,” the British actress wrote in an open letter to Time.
Dench thinks viewers from outside the UK in particular get the wrong idea about the British monarchy. He mentions, among other things, the storyline of the possible deposition of the queen by Prince Charles and the strict education of Charles by his mother.
“This is very inaccurate,” said Dench. “They are a danger to these people, but also to the institutions they represent. No one is more in favor of artistic freedom than I am, but it can’t go on like this.”
Fifth season of Crown will start on November 9th. Imelda Staunton plays Queen Elizabeth, previously played by Claire Foy and Olivia Colman.
