News of Queen Elizabeth II’s death has hit Britain hard. Ten days of national mourning have been declared and that could have an impact on football as well.
For now, there is no official news regarding sporting events in the UK. It had been suggested in the British press that all sporting events would be postponed due to the ten days of national mourning. That means, among other things, that there will be no Premier League football next weekend, and possibly the weekend after.
There are several English teams that have to play in Europe alongside Manchester United, West Ham United and Scottish Heart of Midlothian. They all observed a minute’s silence before the start of their match. All teams have also expressed their support on social media and blackened their profile pictures.
