Special insulation technology for winter also proves useful in summer

A dual chamber and energy efficient screen has been successfully implemented in British farmers. The combination of techniques allows farmers to continue the normal strawberry production cycle. This equipment, together with a cooling and misting system, can lower the thermometer in a greenhouse by 4 to 6°C, according to Spanish greenhouse maker J. Huete International.

In the midst of a heatwave and one of the hottest summers in British history, one strawberry farmer was able to get on with his work while another was hit hard by the heatwave.

In 2021, the farmer asked J. Huete International to build his new greenhouse, with which he wants to grow strawberries all year round and avoid a normal winter. J. Huete International, together with its local partner Penny Irrigation UK, designed and built a greenhouse with climate equipment so it can work year-round, even during the harsh winters that occur in this area.

To keep the indoor temperature as stable as possible, the Spanish company installed double walls made of inflatable plastic, the facility represents the best cover from an energy point of view to date. Apart from that, it also adds a shade screen and a gutter growth system.

Although this high insulation is meant to maintain higher temperatures than the surrounding area in winter, no one could have predicted that the thermometer in the UK would hit 40 this summer.°C will reach. So the double enclosure system is again useful, in this case to prevent overheating in the greenhouse, where the temperature is more than 6°C lower than outside. This simple fact allows farmers to continue supplying strawberries, unlike other farmers who have seen their yields drop due to excessive heat in Europe this summer.

In addition to the double plastic layer and energy-saving screen, technology systems such as cooling or misting can also be added, which reduces the temperature by 4 to 6°C. This combination is very popular, especially in the field of crop protection. This combination is especially popular in very warm countries, where temperatures recorded during this summer’s heatwave are on the order of the day.
