Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba, called on Russia to stop fighting at the nuclear plant.

“Russian soldiers fired from all sides at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, Europe’s largest nuclear power plant. There’s been a fire. If it exploded, it would be 10 times bigger than Chernobyl! Russia must stop fire immediately, allow firefighters, establish a safe zone!” he wrote.

That The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) says that “critical” equipment at the Zaporizhia nuclear plant in Ukraine was not affected by the fire.

“Ukraine notified the IAEA that the fire at the Zaporizhia nuclear plant did not affect ‘critical’ equipment and plant personnel were taking action to mitigate” the damage, the UN agency tweeted.

According to AFP, Russian troops had prevented firefighters from accessing the burning Ukrainian factory.
