Shocking news from England. Sky Sports partnered with Lewis Hamilton’s foundation, Mission 44. The Mercedes drivers’ foundation is committed to a more inclusive school system so that children of color are encouraged to work in key industries.
Hamilton’s foundation was the result of his struggle against racism. Since the murder of George Floyd and the subsequent ‘Black Lives Matter’ protests, Hamilton has made his voice heard loud and clear. He made several changes to the entryway to Formula 1 and ensured that attention was paid to equality before each Grand Prix.
Million
So now the foundation will collaborate with Sky Sports. Sky has been broadcasting the sport in Hamilton’s home country for years and the voices of the channel’s commentators are heard in millions of living rooms around the world. The channel and the foundation have signed a two-year partnership. The Foundation will receive over one million pounds during this period.
Empower
Hamilton himself broke his silence in a press release. Mercedes UK drivers are delighted with the collaboration: “I hope that through this collaboration we can start an important change. We want to offer schools the right strategy to support and empower black students to give.”
