‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ breaks records on major streaming services

On Paramount+, the series had an unrivaled debut with several broken records.

Star Trek: A Strange New World had the best debut of the entire franchise on Paramount+, according to the American streaming service. The series’ raging popularity suggests that the classic sci-fi series is certainly still in the millennium today.

On Wednesday, Paramount+ announced that Star Trek: A Strange New World best streaming debut for the original Star Trekseries ever owned. In addition, the series also broke the record for the most watched original series on the sci-fi franchise platform during its first 90 days.

The series is still in the UK’s 2nd most watched original Paramount series, and was recognized on Rotten Tomatoes with the highest score for Star Trekseries ever.

Paramount Streaming chief programming officer Tanya Giles said of the numbers in favor of the series in a press release: “’Star Trek’ fans around the world have embraced this incredible new ‘Star Trek’ journey. We’re thrilled that the ‘Star Trek’ universe continues to be one of the most-watched franchises on our service.”

George Cheeks, president and chief executive officer at CBS, said of the series: “Every [Star Trek-]The series has been a success in its own right, and now the latest installment of the franchise, ‘The Strange New World’, has been critically acclaimed and delivered outstanding performances both domestically and internationally. We look forward to continuing the franchise journey at Paramount+ in the US and globally, which, in the case of ‘Strange New Worlds’, we have only just begun.”

The second season of the successful series has been picked up and is expected to be released in 2023.
