SCOIL SAMHRAIDH MHIC REACHTAIN 2017

(McCracken Summer School)

The award winning and internationally renowned Scoil Samhraidh Mhic Reachtain festival (McCracken Summer School) was inaugurated in July 2000 and is currently one of the biggest Irish language and arts festivals in Ireland, having established itself as one of the highlights on the city’s and the country’s cultural calendar.

This year, the McCracken Summer School will run from Monday 24 to Saturday 29 July to include;

Week long Irish language course (5 levels available with 4 lessons each day from 10am-4pm, Monday to Friday only). Teaching staff; Art Hughes, Fionntán de Brún, Gearóid Ó Domagáin, Pádraig Ó Tiernaigh, Seán Ó Muireagáin, Seán Mac Corraidh, Tricia Carr & Phil Gorman. £30 (concession rate) or £40 (full price) for the week.

Traditional Music session 3 times a day le Meaití-Jó Shéamuis agus Johnny Connolly

Singing Workshops (x2) with Doimnic Mac Giolla Bhríde each afternoon

Sean-nós Dancing Workshops with Gearóid  & Páraic Ó Dubháin (Devane Brothers)

International Day with international food, dancers, the Armagh Rhymers and traditional music session

Night of the Scribes with Bríd Ní Mhóráin (Gaeltacht Chorca Dhuibhne, Contae Chiarraí),  Gearóid Mac Lochlainn (Béal Feirste) and Gregor Lozar from Slovenia.

Cavehill Walk with Cormac Hamill (‘Ar Scáth na Sléibhte‘ BBC2)

And a nightly Barr a’ Tí concert in Áras Mhic Reachtain with;

MONDAY: John Spillane & Shane Hennessy (Seoladh albaim eisiach ó thuaidh ‘Marrakech’). £10

TUESDAY: Inni-K & Enda Reilly £10

WEDNESDAY: ‘STARMAN’ – THE DAVID PROJECT with; Liam Ó Maonlaí, Hilary Bow & The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra (famous Bowie songs which have been translated by Gabriel Rosenstock). £10

THURSDAY: CÓISIR COIS CUAIN le; IMLÉ, LAS & Dysania. £10

FRIDAY: OÍCHE AIRNEÁIL le Caitlín Ní Chualáin, Noeleen Ní Cholla, Devane Brothers agus aíonna speisialta (saor isteach)

SATURDAY: Dónal Lunny, Róisín Elsafty & Máirtín Ó Connor agus tacaíocht le Megan Nic Ruairí. £10
