Take a Joyride to Jupiter | Nuala O’Connor
Seamus Heaney HomePlace • Friday 30 June 2017
One of Ireland’s greatest short story writers, Nuala O’Connor, makes her debut appearance at Seamus Heaney HomePlace on Friday 30 June, to discuss her highly acclaimed new collection, Joyride to Jupiter.
Following the successes of The Closet of Savage Mementos and Miss Emily, Nuala’s new collection explores themes from maternal love and cross-generational friendship, to Alzheimer’s disease and infidelity, in locations from the bedrooms of Dublin to the beaches of Brazil.
Looking forward to her first visit to Seamus Heaney HomePlace, Nuala said:
“Seamus Heaney’s beautiful work spoke to me as it spoke to so many and I was always happy to see his beautiful smile at brief, literary festival encounters. He had an infectious aura of kindness and calm.”
Nuala will be discussing her work, Seamus Heaney and more with local writer Jan Carson. The event starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £5 – book online at www.seamusheaneyhome.com
