‘Power of Video’ to be harnessed at upcoming conference
The Power of Video conference is set to return to Belfast on 26 May with a new venue, Belfast Cathedral, a new festival format and an exciting line up of activities and speakers to celebrate the rising power of online video.
This year delegates are in for a treat as the festival format will offer something for guests of all ages and skill sets, from up-and-coming content creators to experienced filmmakers, businesses interested in harnessing the power of video for their own marketing and brand purposes, and local fans of the high-profile YouTube and social media stars and influencers scheduled to take to the stage this year.
Event organisers and filmmakers Billy May and Damien Gallagher of Speed Motion Films have also announced the first batch of speakers to be confirmed for the star-studded line-up including world-renowned director and filmmaker Philip Bloom, who has worked for Lucasfilm, CNN, Sky and the BBC, among other prestigious credits; comedian, author and social media star Arron Crascall; and Ireland’s own Cian Twomey and Emily Rochford. Conference favourites Zack Nelson from Jerry Rig Everything and Dan and Lincoln Markham from What’s Inside will make a return for 2017 and – a coup to the business-focused portion of the event – Denis Crushell of Tubular Labs and formerly Head of Sponsorship EMEA for YouTube will address guests keen implement video strategies for their businesses, organisations, and brands.
“We were delighted by the positive feedback following our first Power of Video conference in 2016 and are so excited to announce a bigger and better conference for 2017,” said Billy May, Organiser, Power of Video. “Last year’s conference, highlighted by a talk from YouTuber of the Year Casey Neistat, Ireland’s own Cian Twomey and hosted by David Meade among other guests, acted as a springboard for an incredibly strong platform as we continue to advocate for the power of video content, whether this is used for brand promotion or as a means to communicate personal messages between individuals.”
In addition to this year’s day-long conference in Belfast Cathedral, hosted again by David Meade, guests can also take advantage of a larger carnival atmosphere including interactive exhibitions, meet-and-greets, a street food festival beside the Cathedral, and other satellite events across Belfast including Northern Ireland’s first DR1 FPV Drone Race held in T13 in Titanic Quarter.
“This year’s conference has been moved to a distinctly ‘Belfast’ landmark as we prepare to host a wide range of influential global YouTubers and video creators,” added Damien Gallagher. “Last year’s event really opened our eyes to the exceptional level of production talent in Northern Ireland, and we look forward to connecting these up-and-coming creators with their heroes in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter, an ever-evolving space that we believe really signifies the progressive, forward-thinking elements of our city.”
